This includes the operation hours for the praisehaven store too!
Hi thrift at high point; geylang

Hi thrift shop at geylang. Address: no.1 Lor 23 geylang s388352

I’ve almost zero luck with thrift shops. I tried 5 so far, 1 was no longer in operation, 2 was closed when I was there. 1 just wasn’t to my liking. One word; UNLUCKY!

So, the one that is not in operation anymore is the NU&O located at blk 159, bukit batok street 11, #01-150, Singapore 650159.

The two shops that were closed are…

-Praisehaven family store
They are closed on Mondays as of 1 aug 2012, so I would totally recommend you to make a phone call first before heading down. But anyway, I heard that they aren’t that cheap, so, I’ll not be going there to try anymore.
Because….
#1: it’s too far, I stay in the east.
#2: it’s super out of the way, unless you drive
#3: even through driving, it was rather inconvenient, I went from school(clementi).
#4: I heard it’s expensive.
Address: 500 upper bukit timah road, singapore 678106
Telephone: 63495334/63495304/63495312
Operating hours: refer to the picture on top.

-New2U shop
I was there too late, they close at 230pm, and if you don’t know, I’m a true night animal, and I sleep till late afternoon. BUT.. I’ll still be trying there again, just not yet.
Address: 96 waterloo street, Singapore council of woman’s organisation. Operating hours: 1030am-230pm, Mon-fri.
Remark: it’s very near bra besah mrt, definitely within walking distance from the train station, not sure which exit from the station to take though.

Finally, the two shops that I managed to tour around are…

-Salvation army at upper serangoon.
Address: 309 upper serangoon road, singapore 347693
Telephone: 62885438

-Hi thift at High point
Address: no.1 Lor 23 geylang s388352
Operating hours: 1030am-4pm

Well, if you looked at the last picture, you would realise that no.1 is actually opposite no.2 Lor 23 Geylang, which if I didn’t remember wrongly, no.2 is a coffee shop. So if you see coffee shops, cross opposite, by opposite, I don’t mean the main road, I mean the alley. Well, I would definitely be visiting this particular outlet again, so I would take better pictures to describe the directions better. It’s pretty hard to find, so don’t be shy to ask the shop vendors your way there, because girl, you don’t want to be lost there. I don’t know about you, but because it’s Geylang, I wouldn’t want to go there alone. #justsaying Anyway! It’s the only “shop” that is opposite the shophouses, I don’t know how else can I explain it better. Hope this helps!

PS: pictures are mine, so they are definitely in operation as of 1Nov. I didn’t try calling any of the shops, so I can’t say for the numbers. Telephone numbers, address and operating hours are all googled, however I did use the address provided above to find my way there.

DIY: jewellery bowl

I bought this from ikea tampines. But somehow, I just can't find the direct link for this, sorry!

The paint that I'm gonna use, I bought them from artfriend.

Don't worry about the paint being not lasting, I've use both paint colours before, this is just one of them. This is the "couple" photo frame J and I made for each other last year. (:
Photo frames are bought from Bangkok Chatuchak.

First layer, not dried yet. I would strongly recommend you to set some newspaper on first before you start painting, It could get messy. I didn't use any water to mix with the paint, but I did wet my paintbrush first to remove any colour stains from previous works. The finish looks very uneven due to the original colouring of the box. Refer on top.

I'm applying second layer, as you can see, the top half is darker than the bottom half (first layer).

Second layer done.

I'm painting the inside of the box neon pink. Oh by the way, this pink paint glows in the dark, well, slightly. /insert disappointed face.

As you can see, compared with the blue paint, this is way much more uneven than the blue one. Reason? my guess is, in order for it to "glow" the extra chemicals they added in doesn't help with a "smooth finish". It kinda makes it look a little gloppy, but really, a few more layers would help. Well, I've evidence on top; refer to photo frame.

This is how it looks like when it's dry. (second layer)

I'm using masking tape to tape the side.

Because I'm going to stay painting on the borders as highlighted.

This is why I taped it.

This is the fourth layer, I taped the inside part for the border painting.

The finished product!

The colour runs a little closer to this picture here instead of the above one.

The reason for choosing this pink paint for the interior of the box instead of the exterior, is because, I've worked with these paints before. I know that the finish for the pink one isn't as fantastic as the blue one. Since, this would be my jewellery box, I'm hoping that the jewellery inside will distract anyone from noticing the flaws. Also, it will be cool if it glows from inside right?

A tip for you girls to keep your paint brushes longer, is to always clean your brushes right after you paint. Do not procrastinate! For me, I always wash it with water first, wipe off the excess water with tissue papers and leave it to air dry. This is probably not the proper procedure, but hey, at least I wash it, though you may want to google the actual procedure.

Thought I would share

Disclaimer: I don't know how true is this, I saw this on my twitter timeline, and SS it to share. I'll be going town this Sunday, and would probably check this out.

If you are wondering where can diva and guardian be found, here are some that I know of,

Diva at Bugis, Ion.
Guardian at Takashimaya, Paragon

Update: The loreal's 2nd item at $5 are only for a certain few items, definitely not lipsticks, I asked the sales person there.
.
As for diva, for some of you, you would most probably feels it's cheap. It's a storewide promotion. For me, i calculated, most of the stuffs are actually about 20dollars and up, which makes it about $13 each? Personally, I don't usually spend that much for a necklace. For others, that's probably their usual pricings. Haha, as I'm obsessed with accessories, this is the way I control myself to ensure that I don't overspend, not that it helped much. /Laughs Oh, but they do have a mini sales collection which priced at about $6-$9, mostly $9. If you can find three sales items, that would be terrific.

On a side note, I found inspiration at Diva, it's a hairband thingy, I might do a DIY post on it. Wait for it. (:

Random food and boring photos

Fish and chip, mine

Garlic bread

Aglio olio, J

We decided to head to Toa Payoh today to try a stall called the Wok Inn Fish and Chips. Well, I heard about it over the radio. Since we were in the area, we decided to try it out. Mmm, as you can see from the photos, we only tried the aglio olio, fish and chip accompanied with mashed potatoes and garlic bread. I think it only costs us about $13. The usual pricing for a coffee shop standard.
The garlic bread wasn't too bad, but the mashed potato was quite a disappointment. Just judging from the fish itself, I think I would give it a 6.5/10. Well, but I aren't a foodie. So try it out for yourself and don't trust my comments too much. As you can see, this is obviously NOT a food blog. Also, you would want to know that, I went there expecting the food to be of a certain standard.

For those of you who are keen to try the food, it's quite near the tpy interchange, you can take bus 155, 159, 28 from tpy interchange, alight at the third stop. Walk a bit ahead and you will see block 93. Obviously head on a while and you will see block 95. Use your own google map!

Wok Inn Fish and Chips
Toa Payoh Lor 4, Blk 95
Closed on Tuesdays and Monday Nights

Lotsa random photos of the boy and me, if you are not interested in seeing boring photos, stop here. (:

Till then, X.

Shopping Haul: Bugis

I'm the kind of girl that loves shoes, but couldn't justify herself buying expensive branded shoes.

I don't know is this even considered a shopping haul. I think some of you would think this is more like a mini shopping haul.

DIY project: collar

So, recently there is a collar craze, and I thought I would just join in. Since they help jazz up outfit effortlessly(almost).
So these are what you would need, sequins, collar, thread the same color as your collar (in my case: white) and needle.
I got the collar from a old white t-shirt my bro owned.

From daiso, $2sgd

So, I finished the other heart shape bottle, and bought this one instead. Again, it's not a top coat, it's a clear nail polish which imma use on my accessories not my nails. This is my third bottle, I finished two bottles and yes, I did spammed it on my accessories.
Anyway, this picture is up because I'm in love with anything heart shaped, and I think it's cute. This have nothing to do with the collar above.
